Tell us what’s involved in the day-to-day work of an Online ESL Teacher?
First things first, I always prepare for the day by going over lessons and making sure I have appropriate props, toys and visuals ready.
At the start of each lesson we will do a warm-up activity or introduction. With enthusiasm, when we begin, I always ask my students if they are ready to start with a big ‘thumbs up’.
Throughout the lesson I encourage my students, as well as highlight words and sentences that we need to focus on.
At the end of the lesson we recap and then say ‘Goodbye’.
Each student is given a feedback-report on areas they did well in during the lesson and areas that need focus on some more.
Why did you decide to become an Online English Teacher?
I am passionate about people, especially children, and I love English!
Working online as a teacher allows me to live out my two greatest passions.
Also, it is very rewarding when you begin to see your students improve.
What advice would give to someone who wants to be an Online Teacher?
Do it! It is rewarding and fun.
Not only will it allow you to build new relationships, it will expand your knowledge on different cultures and gives you flexibility within your own schedule.
