Why did you decide to become an Online English Teacher?
Ultimately, teaching is my biggest passion because you can positively impact the lives of others through it. And being able to do it from the comfort of my own home, on my own terms is an absolute pleasure!
I believe that technology is an amazing thing which connects the world and, as it evolves, I want to be evolving as a teacher along with it! We are headed towards a more digital world and, professionaly, it’s important to keep up with the times.
Originally, I wanted to become an online teacher before being an in-class teacher, after I had done some teaching of private students online. However, I was offered work as an English lecturer at a traditional teaching establishment,so I did that job for some time.
As a result, I put my plans to be an online teacher on hold until I eventually decided that working independently for myself would be much better.
Tell us about your career journey and how you became an Online Teacher?
It all started off with my dream and burning passion to become a teacher.
I opened my own free-lance business service offering tutoring to students-in-need, in South Africa. I had great success in this and decided to obtain my TEFL certificate. Thereafter, I taught in Vietnam for over a year both in a traditional classroom and online.
Since I started working as an online teacher, I have never looked back and I cherish each moment!
Tell us a bit about who you are and what you do outside of work for fun?
I love to be in the kitchen, with my music blasting in the background and dancing around when no one is watching!!
I also adore tucking into a good book, as well as taking time for myself by going for treatments and keeping my skin healthy. I’m a bit of a ‘beauty fanatic’ so anything related to beauty and skincare is fascinating.
I am extremely family-oriented, so when it comes to family events I prioritise them over anything in my free-time.
