While a completed TEFL certification is essential for your application, if you don't have one yet, there's no need to worry. We provide an in-house, globally recognized 120-hour TEFL course, which is essential for building a successful career as an online English teacher. Position Details

Start Date:

  • Immediate upon the completion of the recruitment process.

Location:

  • Work from home.

Scheduling: 

  • Minimum of 25 peak hours required per week, but more hours can be taken outside of peak hours. 
  • Peak hours are from 12 AM to 7 AM SAST.

Students: 

  • You will teach adult students and be leading small group classes and private classes as well as providing feedback on student work.

Remuneration:

  • Set base rate of 6 USD per hour.

Training:

  • Training and ongoing professional development throughout the contract.

Contract type:

  • You will be contracted by The Really Great Teacher Company as an Independent Service Provider.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year's teaching experience.
  • Completed, accredited TEFL, TESOL or CELTA certificate.
  • Must be an English first-language speaker.
  • Familiarity with Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
  • Familiarity with ESL assessments, with the ability to evaluate and create assessments.
  • Highly computer literate.
  • No criminal record.
  • Great communication skills.
  • Excellent timekeeping and punctuality.
  • Passion for teaching and motivating students.

Advantageous:

  • Degree in Linguistics, Education, English, or related field.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher.

Tech Requirements

PC specifications:

  • Processor: Intel ® Core™ i5 CPU @2.40GHz (4 CPUs) or greater. 
  • Memory: 8GB RAM or greater.

Backup power:  

  • Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) with a battery life of up to 4-5 hours (2000VA) (or willing to purchase before commencing teaching). This is applicable and a non-negotiable requirement for candidates based in a country where regular power interruptions occur.

A stable fibre internet connection:

  • At a minimum of 10 Mbps upload and download speeds. 
  • PC is connected via a LAN cable and not via a Wi-Fi connection.  

Noise-cancelling headsets and HD web camera.

  • Backup headset is highly recommended.
